REVIEW: The Dog Park Detectives – Paw and Order by Blake Mara

Paw and Order is the third of the Dog Park Detectives series, and picks up from where the second – Bone of Contention – left off, tying up some of the loose ends from that novel. The series follows a group of friends that meet up at a local dog park to walk their pooches, and we get to know not only the humans, but also their canine counterparts’ personalities and quirks.

When bodies are found around the local area, Lou starts to wonder if they may all be linked somehow, and despite having reservations following her involvement in 2 previous cases, finds herself getting involved and trying to link the deaths and solve the case. But as danger starts to find its way closer to home, can the Dog Park Detectives close the case before they become the next victims?

It’s refreshing to see a cosy crime set in a more urban area – amateur sleuths aren’t restricted to stomping around the countryside – and I love that the novels cover grittier problems while not sacrificing any of the cosy vibes. The residents’ concerns feel true to life, but with the bonus of the books sticking to the cosy rule of having everything resolved by the end.

I’m fully invested in this series and can’t wait for more!
